SentinelOne EDR - Installation Guide

This document provides a step-by-step guide for installing SentinelOne Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) on your systems. SentinelOne EDR offers advanced threat detection, prevention, and response capabilities to protect your network from cyber threats.

System Requirements

Before proceeding with the installation, ensure that your system meets the following requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.12 or later, or a supported Linux distribution.
  • Processor: 1 GHz or faster.
  • RAM: Minimum 2 GB.
  • Disk Space: At least 1 GB of free space.
  • Network: Stable internet connection for downloading and updating the software.

Pre-Installation Steps

  1. Administrator Access: Ensure you have administrative privileges on the system where SentinelOne EDR will be installed.
  2. Disable Conflicting Software: Temporarily disable any existing antivirus or security software to prevent conflicts during installation.

Installation Steps

Windows

  1. Download the Installer: Access the SentinelOne management console and download the Windows installer package.

  3. Follow the Wizard: Proceed through the installation wizard, accepting the license agreement and selecting the installation directory.
  4. Complete Installation: Click 'Finish' once the installation is complete. The SentinelOne agent will automatically start and connect to the management console.

macOS

  1. Download the Installer: From the SentinelOne management console, download the macOS installer package.
  2. Open the Installer: Double-click the downloaded .pkg file to launch the installer.
  3. Follow the Prompts: Follow the on-screen instructions, entering your administrator password when prompted.
  4. Finish Installation: Once the installation is complete, the SentinelOne agent will begin running and connect to the management console.

Linux

  1. Download the Installer: Obtain the Linux installer script from the SentinelOne management console.
  2. Open Terminal: Navigate to the directory where the installer script is located.
  3. Run the Installer: Execute the command sudo bash <installer_script.sh> to start the installation.
  4. Verify Installation: Confirm that the SentinelOne agent is running by executing sudo systemctl status sentinelone.

Post-Installation Steps

  1. Re-enable Security Software: If you disabled any security software before installation, re-enable it now.
  2. Verify Connectivity: Ensure that the SentinelOne agent is communicating with the management console.
  3. Perform a System Scan: Initiate a full system scan to ensure that your system is secure and free from threats.

Troubleshooting

  • Installation Errors: Check the system logs for any error messages and consult the SentinelOne support documentation.
  • Agent Not Connecting: Verify network settings and ensure that the system can reach the SentinelOne management console.
